2012 Favourites: Skin and Hair

They say the opposite of love is not hate; it's indifference.  That is exactly my relationship with skincare -- I have finicky skin and have spent years trying to figure myself out.  Finding the right balance gets so exhausting that occasionally I'll just give up and a cleanser won't grace my skin for days (ew).  For those interested, I recently spoke out about some acne-fighting heroes here.  As someone with reactive skin, I've suffered more than my fair share of existential beauty crises.  How do you know what's working?  Should you switch up products so your skin doesn't get used to them, or should you be consistent with your routine?  How important is skincare anyway?  Shouldn't magically clear, glowing skin come with diet and exercise?  What exactly will store-bought products do that DIY ones won't?

So many dilemmas, so little time.  My head hurts.

Here are some of the products that helped me get through 2012, and here's hoping I get some definite answers in 2013.

  1. Ok I just HAVE to say: you have amazing taste in skincare! I love every single one of your picks! Most of them are products I've been wanting to try for *forever* but just havent gotten around to--like the ExfoliKate, Jurlique Love Balm, Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse AND Reve de Miel!, and Bioderma! Oh, and I love love love the Caudalie Day Perfecting Fluid as well. Isn't that stuff like magic?! It's sooo light and silky and doesn't make my super oily face greasy. I also feel like it subtly perfects my skin but that could just be a placebo effect of that almost non-existent tint :P

    1. Wow, thank you! I'm obsessed with skincare. Caudalie's Perfecting Fluid is AMAZING. I almost feels like it culls some of the oil on my face because it's so light and hydrating. And I totally know what you mean by the placebo effect thing, but I swear it makes it makes concealing blemishes easier!
